06.15.20 - The New York Attorney General, Letitia James, has begun interviewing workers from a number of New York City Amazon facilities as part of a probe into the company's response to and handling of coronavirus, James' office recently told CNN.
Attacks on Amazon’s treatment of employees is not foreign for those who care to listen. Since the start of the pandemic, many workers in Amazon warehouse facilities have come forward stating that the company’s effort to protect employees during the pandemic has been lackluster. The Attorney General's office in New York interviewed Amazon employees on allegations regarding personal protective equipment and other safety measures resulting from Covid-19.
An Amazon spokesperson declined to comment on the Attorney General's investigation but issued a statement saying, "We are saddened by the tragic impact Covid-19 has had on communities across the globe, including on some Amazon team members and their family and friends. From early March to May 1, we offered our employees unlimited time away from work, and since May 1 we have offered leave for those most vulnerable or who need to care for children or family members."
