In the largest civil-aviation deal in history the Indian airline company Indigo announced on Monday that it will be purchasing 500 Airbus jets in a deal valued at $50 billion.
The deal comes as demand for travel returns to normal after the Covid-19 pandemic as the acquisition of the 500 jets will more than double Indigo’s current fleet of roughly 300 aircrafts.
The recent deal also highlights India’s desired growth as a global airway as the country intends to grow both domestically and internationally. The jets are set to arrive and be fully operational between 2030 and 2035.
