Domino’s Pizza is investing heavily into electric vehicles with the announcement that the company will be procuring 800 Dominos branded Chevrolet Bolts for 37 of its own stores and hundreds of others run by its U.S. franchises.
The company stated that the vehicles will be deployed this month and will likely result in more orders to General Motors.
The goal of the company is to have the largest EV fleet in pizza delivery history. Much of the decision to purchase the fleet is based on reports from store owners stating that one of the greatest factors preventing delivery is employees not having their own vehicles to use. The EVs will be given to stores and owners can then allow employees to use them for deliveries based on their own discretion.
In addition, the pizza delivery system has become undesirable for employees as of late due to higher costs for used cars and fuel. By providing vehicles Domino’s hopes to bring in more drivers.
