Blue Origin Engine Failure

Blue Origin experienced its first failed flight on Monday as the launch of the company’s Shepherd rocket experienced engine failure shortly after takeoff.

Fortunately, no one was onboard the rocket as it was only carrying payloads although a similar version of the rocket is often used to carry regular paying customers to the brink of space.

Full details of the event have not been disclosed by the company, but it would seem at this time that only one minute after takeoff the rocket experienced engine failure and prompted emergency abort systems to kick in. The capsule on top of the rocket, which is where passengers would reside, quickly detached from the rocket using thrusters to reach a safe distance from the rocket and then landed safely through the use of parachutes.
